ExpoAid 2026 in Rimini spotlights Italy's disability reform debate

The Ministry for Disabilities hosted ExpoAid in Rimini on 25‑27 June 2026, presenting slogans such as “the person at the centre” while critics argued the event avoided the unresolved issues of the new disability reform. During the same three‑day event, the Ambito 9 Bassa Bresciana Centrale showcased its regional model for personalised “Progetti di Vita”. Director Claudia Pedercini and social worker Roberta Ravelli highlighted a shift from service‑centred to person‑centred planning, stressing the need for tighter integration of social and health services. Pedercini said, “We chose to bring the people, not just the projects,” underscoring the reform’s aim to let individuals direct their own futures.
