Romania faces red heat alert as temperatures climb to 41 °C FAST-MOVING
Romania’s National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued a series of heat alerts – yellow, orange and red – for several counties. Red alerts cover Satu Mare, Bihor, Arad and Timiș, where maximum temperatures are expected to reach 39‑41 °C and night‑time lows will remain tropical (20‑26 °C). The heat‑index (ITU) will exceed the critical value of 80, prompting warnings for vulnerable groups and advice to stay hydrated, avoid sun exposure and keep children and the elderly in cool environments.
In neighbouring Hungary, HungaroMet forecasts similarly extreme conditions through the weekend, with daytime highs of 36‑42 °C and occasional thunderstorms. The heatwave is expected to persist across the region, with limited relief only after Saturday.
