Extremadura coalition government approves first budget
The coalition government in Extremadura, composed of the PP and Vox, has approved its first budgets for the current legislature. The agreement follows a period of political tension that led to early elections in December.
To reach a consensus, the parties engaged in a series of budgetary adjustments. While Vox sought to eliminate various subsidies, the PP-led administration maintained funding for certain sectors, such as LGTBI support in rural areas and assistance for victims of human trafficking. However, the budget does reflect Vox's demands to reduce subsidies for unions, business organizations, international cooperation, and migrant assistance entities by 50%.
Additionally, the budget omits the controversial principle of national priority for public aid and eliminates a 150,000 euro line of funding previously allocated to environmental groups.
