Extremadura drivers favor low‑price gas stations

A recent study by IO Investigación for Plenergy shows that 41% of drivers in Spain’s Extremadura region now list low‑price gas stations as their primary refuelling choice, a six‑point rise from 2024. Seventy percent have tried such stations and most cite fuel cost as the dominant factor, with 96% preferring cheap fuel over amenities like shops or cafés.

The survey finds that eight‑in‑ten drivers would switch to a station offering a saving of up to €0.10 per litre, and 48% trust the quality of low‑price gasoline. Most visits (70%) occur in urban or town areas, while only 11% happen on highways. Drivers also value 24‑hour service, multiple pumps to reduce waiting, and safety features.

Overall, the data reflects a strong price‑driven shift in fuel purchasing habits across Extremadura, emphasizing cost savings and convenience over ancillary services.
