Spain weather emergency: Red alerts and flooding hit Extremadura and other regions
Severe weather across Spain has triggered red and orange alerts, causing widespread disruption. In Extremadura, particularly in the province of Badajoz, a red alert for heavy rainfall has led to over 1,000 emergency calls to the 112 service. The storm has resulted in dozens of incidents and multiple road closures due to flooding and landslides.
Other regions are also facing significant weather risks. In Ávila, an orange alert is in effect due to the risk of flooding and river overflows, with the Alberche River already affecting several municipalities. Additionally, parts of Catalonia and Andalusia are experiencing extreme weather, with Almería reporting rainfall accumulations exceeding 60 liters per square meter.
