Extremadura school transport delay sparks parental concern

Families in Extremadura are expressing concern following an error that has delayed the tendering process for 356 school transport routes by one month. The delay has sparked fears that students, particularly those in rural areas, may face service disruptions at the start of the new school year.

Maribel Rengel, president of the Regional Extremaduran Federation of Parents' Associations (Freampa), stated that families are seeking equal opportunities for all students regardless of their postal code. While Rengel acknowledged the regional government's political will to resolve the issue, she noted that the administrative error regarding documentation could have been avoided.

Officials from the Regional Public Entity of Complementary Educational Services (Epesec) and the Department of Education have been in communication with parent representatives to ensure routes are guaranteed before classes begin in September.
