Extremadura storm triggers flood alerts and evacuations

Severe storms and heavy rainfall in Extremadura, Spain, led to the activation and subsequent deactivation of the Inuncaex flood protection plan. The weather event resulted in 239 managed incidents and over 1,200 emergency calls to the 112 service.

In Corte de Peleas, Badajoz, 16 people were evacuated after water affected five homes, including four occupied residences. The storm also impacted two vehicles and an electrical tower in the area. High rainfall warnings were issued for northern Cáceres and the Alagón river basin, with some areas facing potential accumulations of up to 120 liters per square meter. The emergency plan was deactivated at midnight following a decrease in water levels and improving conditions.
