Extremadura to provide English language subsidies for 2,900 students

The Government of Extremadura has authorized a subsidy program to support English language studies for approximately 2,900 compulsory secondary education (ESO) students during the 2026/2027 academic year. The regional executive has allocated a total of 928,000 euros to this initiative.

Eligible students can receive a maximum of 40 euros per month for eight months, totaling up to 320 euros per course, provided the amount does not exceed the actual cost of language center tuition. To qualify, students must be enrolled in a publicly funded ESO center in Extremadura, reside in the autonomous community, and meet specific income limits.

Recent updates to the program include adjusting income thresholds in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to increase accessibility. Additionally, the program now permits online English classes to assist students who face commuting difficulties or live in areas without local language academies.
