Extremadura workers face unpaid August wages for minor care services
Approximately 30 workers managing supervised apartments for minors in Extremadura have not yet received their August salaries. The affected facilities include three locations in Cáceres and two in Plasencia.
The management company, Asistencia Familiar Extremadura (AFEX), attributed the non-payment to delays in the Junta de Extremadura settling service invoices. The regional administration confirmed an outstanding debt of 215,911.43 euros, stating that payment is “inminente” (imminent). The administration cited delays caused by changes in regional departments and the adaptation of economic management systems to a new budget.
Despite the unpaid wages, staff members continue to perform their daily duties, which include providing routine care and support for vulnerable minors under the guardianship of the Junta. AFEX expressed hope that the August salaries would be paid before the end of September.
