EZLN and searching mothers to meet in San Cristóbal de Las Casas

The Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) and groups of 'madres buscadoras' (searching mothers) are scheduled to participate in a meeting in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas. The event, titled ‘Gira por la Vida, capítulo México: Encuentro con madres buscadoras’, is organized by the Espacio de Conciencia y Memoria and scheduled for October 2 at the Centro Indígena de Capacitación Integral (Cideci)-Universidad de la Tierra.

According to the Center for Human Rights Fray Bartolomé de Las Casas (Frayba), the meeting will include members of the Zapatista Sixth Commission and several searching mothers. The discussions are being coordinated by Frayba director Dora Roblero and emeritus bishop Raúl Vera López.

The gathering serves as a precursor to a planned visit by an EZLN delegation to Mexico City in December. Additionally, informative sessions regarding the delegation's trip are scheduled for October 3 and 4, involving various social movements and organizations adhering to the ‘Sexta’ and the ‘Declaración por la Vida’.
