FAAC distributes N2.428 trillion to Nigeria's three tiers of government

The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has distributed N2.428 trillion to Nigeria's three tiers of government for the month of September 2026. This amount represents an increase of N90 billion, or 3.85 percent, compared to the N2.338 trillion shared in the previous month.

The increase was driven by a recovery in gross statutory revenue, which rose to N3.096 trillion from N2.850 trillion in August. This growth was supported by improved receipts from petroleum-related taxes, royalties, and import duties. However, Value Added Tax (VAT) collections saw a decline, falling to N816.872 billion from N834.843 billion in the preceding month.

Of the total allocation, the Federal Government received N832.242 billion, while the 36 states received N799.872 billion. Local Government Councils were allocated N560.660 billion, and oil-producing states received N236.049 billion as derivation from mineral revenue. The distribution was approved during the October 2025 meeting held in Abuja.
