Nigeria FAAC revenue distribution
Overview
Nigeria’s Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) reported fluctuations in revenue distribution between August and September 2026.
In August, the FAAC distributed N2.338 trillion, a 22.2 percent decline from the previous month. This drop was attributed to a 34.6 percent decrease in gross statutory revenue, despite an increase in Value Added Tax (VAT) collections. The Federal Government received N804.897 billion, states received N794.313 billion, and local councils were allocated N555.142 billion.
By September, the total distribution rose to N2.428 trillion, a 3.85 percent increase. This recovery was driven by a rise in gross statutory revenue to N3.096 trillion, supported by petroleum-related taxes, royalties, and import duties, even as VAT collections declined. The Federal Government’s share rose to N832.242 billion, states received N799.872 billion, and local councils were allocated N560.660 billion.
