Facade renovation in France serves both decorative and protective functions, essential for preventing water infiltration and maintaining building health. In several major cities, including Paris, Lyon, Marseille, and Toulouse, municipal decrees require facade cleaning and repair every ten years. While some regions like Nice do not impose such mandates, regular maintenance is recommended to ensure structural integrity.

Costs for facade work in 2026 vary significantly based on the scope of the project. Simple high-pressure cleaning ranges from €10 to €30 per square meter, while painting costs between €25 and €50. Applying plaster or render typically costs between €40 and €90 per square meter. Projects involving external thermal insulation (ITE) are considerably more expensive, ranging from €100 to €250 per square meter.

Scaffolding is a critical cost factor often omitted from initial estimates, typically adding €15 to €35 per square meter to the total budget. Regarding financial assistance, as of January 1, 2026, the MaPrimeRénov' program no longer funds external insulation as a standalone measure. To qualify for aid, homeowners must now opt for an 'accompanied pathway' involving large-scale renovations that combine at least two insulation measures and result in an improvement of at least two energy performance certificate (DPE) classes.
