Vietnam faces heavy rain and high tide flooding risks
Vietnam is experiencing widespread heavy rainfall and high tides, leading to significant flooding risks across several regions. In Ho Chi Minh City, the combination of intense afternoon and evening rain with high tides is expected to cause severe flooding in low-lying areas and along riverbanks. Water levels at the Phu An and Nha Be stations are projected to reach 1.65-1.7 meters, exceeding alarm level 3. Experts note that recent rainfall has frequently exceeded the design capacity of the city's existing drainage systems.
Central Vietnam is also facing severe weather. In Hue, the Huong River has exceeded alarm level 1 following heavy rainfall. Da Nang has activated disaster prevention plans, mobilizing personnel and armored vehicles to assist residents and manage potential landslides and flooding. Forecasts indicate continued heavy to very heavy rainfall for Hue, Da Nang, and eastern Quang Ngai.
In Northern Vietnam, a strengthening cold air mass is bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms to the plains and midlands, including Hanoi, with temperatures expected to decrease slightly. Authorities have issued warnings for potential lightning, hail, and strong wind gusts accompanying these storms.
