Faculty of Philosophy in Niš files criminal complaint against Education Minister
The Faculty of Philosophy in Niš has filed a criminal complaint against the Minister of Education, Dejan Vuk Stanković, for abuse of official duty. The faculty leadership reported that employees have gone 64 days without salaries or the necessary funds for normal operations.
Vladimir Jovanović, the Dean of the Faculty, stated that the institution has faced a “wall of silence” from the Ministry despite repeated inquiries regarding the withholding of appropriations. He noted that the Faculty of Philosophy is the only unit within the University of Niš that has not received approved funding for the upcoming six-month period.
In addition to the criminal complaint, the faculty has filed a lawsuit with the Administrative Court against the Ministry of Education. This legal action follows a reduction in the number of funded employees at the faculty, which dropped from 250 to 211. The faculty expressed “categorical disagreement and the sharpest protest” against the Ministry's current policies.
