Facundo Moyano investigation: family members called to testify

The investigation into former deputy and union leader Facundo Moyano has entered a critical phase as the prosecution summons the closest family members of Candela Arizaga. On Monday, August 31, 2026, Miriam Puntonet (Arizaga’s mother), Victoria Arizaga (her sister), and a friend were called to testify before the Criminal, Contravencional, and Misdemeanor Prosecutor's Office No. 31 in Buenos Aires.

Moyano faces allegations of minor injuries and unlawful deprivation of liberty regarding Arizaga. These testimonies follow previous statements from medical professionals, police, neighbors, and Moyano’s domestic employee.

Prosecutors are specifically looking into contradictions regarding prior knowledge of violence within the relationship. While the family reportedly claims they were unaware of any history of violence, investigators are scrutinizing a social media post made by Victoria Arizaga. Shortly after images surfaced of her sister running semi-clothed on Del Libertador Avenue, Victoria posted an accusation against Moyano on Instagram before deleting it approximately one hour later. The prosecution aims to determine what information Victoria possessed at the time of that post.
