Faemg celebrates 75 years alongside Minas Gerais Rural Producer Day

The Federação da Agricultura e Pecuária do Estado de Minas Gerais (Faemg) marked its 75th anniversary on July 7, coinciding with the celebration of Minas Gerais’ Rural Producer Day. The event highlighted the sector’s role in the state’s economy, noting that agriculture now accounts for 24.1% of Minas Gerais’ Gross Domestic Product – the highest share since 2010. The region leads national production of coffee, milk, planted forests, and holds Brazil’s largest horse herd, while also ranking strongly in tilapia, eggs, tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables.

Faemg president of the Sistema Faemg Senar, Antônio de Salvo, said, “The strength of Minas agriculture lies in its diversity and quality, driving development for both the state and Brazil. Our farmers are the foundation of this success.” The organization, supported by 401 Rural Producer Unions, aims to continue advocating for producers’ interests with the executive, legislative and judicial branches. A new strategic plan for 2026 will launch a modernization drive for rural union representation, focusing on integrated action across the state’s varied regions.
