FAIMA reports employment decline in Argentina's wood industry

The Argentine Federation of the Wood Industry and Affiliates (FAIMA) has reported a significant decline in formal employment within the forest-industrial chain. According to its latest report, formal jobs in the wood industry fell by 8.57 percent year-on-year, a rate that exceeds the decline in production levels.

The most severe job losses are concentrated in high-complexity industrial transformation sectors, such as turning, prefabricated housing manufacturing, panel production, and the making of doors and windows. FAIMA warned that the loss of specialized workers threatens the sector's accumulated technical knowledge and long-term competitiveness.

In a separate strategic move, FAIMA announced its participation in Hotelga 2026 to promote wood as a standard for comfort and sustainability in the tourism sector. The organization aims to highlight the benefits of biophilic design and neuroarchitecture, noting that wood can improve guest well-being by reducing stress and enhancing thermal and acoustic comfort.
