Falun World Ski Championships face broadcasting rights uncertainty
The organizing committee for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun is facing challenges due to the lack of a broadcasting agreement. While the International Ski Federation owns the rights, the absence of a deal impacts arena planning, camera placement, and snow management. Kajsa Sjösvärd, CEO of the Falun championships, noted that delays could lead to increased costs, potentially affecting ticket prices and sponsorship deals.
SVT's sports director, Max Bursell, stated that while the broadcaster remains interested, the limited time remaining makes the situation difficult. A decision is ideally needed by September to avoid unnecessary expenses.
In other sports news, the European Beach Volleyball Championships in Poland featured significant Swedish participation, including a men's final match between Swedish players Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson against David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig.
