Families demand justice following fatal shootings in Argentina and Peru
Families in Argentina and Peru are demanding justice following two separate fatal shooting incidents involving young men.
In Argentina, the family of 19-year-old Gonzalo Martín Quinteros is contesting claims that his death in Villa 1° de Mayo was an accident involving playing with a firearm. His sister has publicly criticized witnesses for allegedly delaying notification, hiding the weapon, and failing to provide immediate aid. The family maintains the shooting was an intentional attack and is calling for the criminal responsibility of everyone present at the residence to be investigated.
In Peru, the relatives of 26-year-old Alexander Jeanpier Masache Saldarriaga are rejecting police reports claiming he attempted to attack an officer with a knife during a September 23 intervention. According to family members, Masache was talking to a friend when police arrived on a motorcycle and physically assaulted him. They allege that as Masache attempted to flee the confrontation, an officer shot him in the shoulder, causing a lung injury. The family is urging prosecutors to review security camera footage and witness testimony to clarify the events.
