Peruvian kidnapping and homicide investigation

Overview

In Peru, families of five men detained in connection with the kidnapping of mining businessman Jenss Marty Lara Tantaquillay and a subsequent quadruple homicide are disputing the arrests. Relatives claim the physical characteristics of the suspects in surveillance footage do not match the detainees, noting that the individuals in the video appeared much taller and larger than the accused.

One relative asserted that a detained individual was at home with his partner during the crime, claiming evidence exists to prove his whereabouts. Family members have called for a review of fingerprints and video footage to ensure the correct perpetrators are identified.

Interior Minister César Astudillo responded by stating the captured individuals are members of the criminal gang ‘Los Pulpos’ and have confessed to participating in the crime. He clarified the group’s roles included providing weapons, vehicles, uniforms, and conducting surveillance, noting the gang consists of more than 100 members.
