Families report grave desecration and theft in Honduras and Panama

In Dolores, Copán, a family is demanding an investigation after reporting that an unidentified individual removed a man's body from his coffin and set it on fire near the municipal cemetery. Mayra Dinora de Zabala, who recovered the remains, has since sealed the grave with bricks and cement. While the family expressed suspicions of witchcraft, no official motive has been established.

Separate incidents of cemetery vandalism have been reported in other regions. In Choluteca, Honduras, approximately 50 graves were reportedly opened to steal iron structures for resale. Meanwhile, in David, Chiriquí, Panama, families have reported increased vandalism and theft within the municipal cemetery. Victims noted that coffins were broken open in search of valuables, leading to calls for improved lighting and increased security patrols.
