Family of Missing Veracruz Journalist Urges Media to Stop Spreading False Reports

Journalist Roxana Berenice Guzmán Ramírez was abducted from her home in Nanchital, Veracruz, on the night of 2 June 2026 by armed men. Guzmán, director of the digital outlet Pulso Informativo del Sureste, has not been located despite investigations by federal and state authorities.

Her mother, Rubicelia Ramírez, addressed a crowd outside the National Port System Administration in Coatzacoalcos, demanding that President Claudia Sheinbaum intervene and that media outlets verify information before publishing. The family condemned a rumor that claimed the journalist had been found alive, saying it “played with our feelings” and caused great emotional distress. “Yo les pido a los periodistas, con el corazón en la mano, que antes de publicar algo chequen sus fuentes porque ayer jugaron con nuestros sentimientos,” Ramírez said.

The relatives continue to press for her safe return, while authorities have confirmed ongoing work on the case but have not provided any new leads.
