Sergio Denis family to appeal ruling on fatal stage accident
The family of late Argentine singer Sergio Denis has announced their intention to appeal a judicial ruling that rejected their request for compensation following his fatal accident in 2019. The ruling attributed responsibility for the fall to the singer himself, rather than the venue.
The incident occurred on March 11, 2019, at the Teatro Mercedes Sosa in San Miguel de Tucumán, where Denis fell into a hole in the stage during a performance. He suffered severe head trauma and remained in a coma for approximately one year before passing away in Buenos Aires on May 15, 2020.
Bárbara Hoffmann, the singer's daughter, stated that the family is working with lawyers to challenge the decision and will pursue the claim “to the last consequences.” The family seeks to overturn the verdict and highlight concerns regarding the safety conditions and stage maintenance at the theater at the time of the event.
