Family of Łukasz Litewka questions investigation into politician's death

Zdzisław Litewka, the father of deceased Left Party politician Łukasz Litewka, has expressed significant doubts regarding the official investigation into his son's death. The 36-year-old activist and politician died on April 23 after being struck by a Mitsubishi Colt while riding a bicycle in Dąbrowa Górnicza.

While a 57-year-old driver was charged with causing a fatal accident, Zdzisław Litewka has raised the possibility of murder, criticizing the lack of thoroughness in the probe. He noted that the investigation was assigned to a junior officer and questioned why a specialized team had not been appointed to examine all circumstances.

The investigation has been transferred to the District Prosecutor's Office in Sosnowiec following the illness of the previous prosecutor. Prosecutor Bartosz Kilian stated that the investigation is being conducted comprehensively and that all hypotheses remain under consideration. Authorities have commissioned a 200-page expert report and additional specialized studies. The investigation has been extended until January 2027.
