FamilyMart launches flagship ‘FAMIMA’ store in Tokyo's Azabu‑dai

FamilyMart opened its first flagship store, FAMIMA PARK AZABUDAI, on 10 July in Tokyo’s Minato ward (Azabu‑dai/Toranomon). The shop is part of the company’s “Next FamilyMart Project” that aims to redefine the convenience‑store concept. Creative director NIGO and interior designer Masamichi Katayama’s team Wonderwall designed three zones – a pop‑up corner, a “Convenience‑wear” area and a kiosk corner – and equipped the space with touch‑panel styling tools, a fitting room and dedicated staff.

The 217 sqm flagship carries about 300 items, including exclusive apparel such as denim jackets priced around ¥5,990, and offers an expanded tea and coffee stand with multiple tea varieties and customizable toppings. The store attracted heavy foot traffic, including foreign tourists, and is being described more as a showroom than a traditional convenience store.

FamilyMart hopes the new format will showcase a broader product range and an experience‑focused retail model for future stores.
