Fan Bingbing faces public debt demand from film investor

Investor Dongyang Haile Film and Television Entertainment Co., Ltd. has publicly demanded that actress Fan Bingbing and her brother, Fan Chengcheng, repay a debt of 67 million NDT (approximately 310 million TWD). The dispute stems from a 2017 investment in the television series ‘Ba Qing Chuan’ (formerly ‘Ying Tian Xia’), which failed to broadcast following Fan’s 2018 tax evasion scandal.

Although a Beijing court ordered Fan’s company, Wuxi Aimeishen Film and Television Culture Co., Ltd., to return the investment and profits in 2021, the debt remains unpaid. The creditor alleges that Fan used a ‘shell game’ tactic to avoid repayment by declaring the company bankrupt and transferring shares to other individuals.

Further allegations suggest that while the company claimed insolvency, over 200 million NDT was transferred to two of Fan’s other studios between 2018 and 2020. Additional funds were reportedly sent to an artist named Wang and to Fan Chengcheng’s studio. The creditor intends to pursue civil litigation to hold the siblings personally liable for the debt, citing potential misuse of the company’s independent legal status.
