Fangschleuse station near Tesla factory opens after delay
The new Fangschleuse railway station near the Tesla factory in Grünheide has officially entered operation, though its opening was delayed. While originally scheduled to begin service on Saturday morning, the station did not see its first Regional Express RE1 trains until approximately 19:30 that evening.
Deutsche Bahn attributed the delay to issues encountered during the acceptance testing of control and security technology. The station, which was constructed over 16 months, is intended to improve commuter access to the Tesla manufacturing site and allow for the future use of longer trains on the line connecting Berlin and Frankfurt (Oder).
Brandenburg Transport Minister Robert Crumbach criticized the delay and the short notice provided by DB InfraGo, stating that the late communication left passengers stranded. The line is operated by the Ostdeutsche Eisenbahngesellschaft (Odeg).
