Carrara Regeneration Project Receives €9 Million Funding via Adriatic Link

A public‑investment programme worth roughly €9 million has been approved to upgrade safety, services, mobility and public spaces in Carrara as part of compensation measures linked to the Adriatic Link infrastructure. The plan was outlined at a public assembly on 27 July attended by mayor Luca Serfilippi, assessors Gianluca Ilari and Alessio Curzi, councilors Davide Delvecchio and Giuseppe Costa, ASET president Giacomo Mattioli and municipal manager Adriano Giangolini.

Key works include a new roundabout linking provincial roads 3 Flaminia and 80 Carrara (estimated €700 k), a pedestrian‑ and cycle‑path along the town (about €1 m), and upgrades to storm‑water, water, gas and sewage networks. Short‑term actions will refurbish the multipurpose field, install an accessible toilet, carry out road maintenance, clear ditches, extend water supply to underserved zones and convert a former school into a community‑association hub.

A proposed 2.5‑km bike lane along the former railway will connect Ponte Murello, Carrara and the local primary school, with an estimated cost of €1.1‑1.3 million. Additional urban tools aim to revitalize the Cava Solazzi area for sport, recreation and environmental uses. Councilor Davide Delvecchio emphasised residents’ right to see compensation transformed into “useful interventions”.
