FANUC America integrates Physical AI to advance industrial robotics

FANUC America is advancing its automation capabilities through the integration of Physical AI and strategic partnerships. In collaboration with Google Cloud, NVIDIA, and Amazon Web Services, the company is developing technologies that allow robots to perceive environments, make autonomous decisions, and perform complex manufacturing tasks.

At the upcoming IMTS 2026, FANUC plans to demonstrate how AI agents can interpret handwritten instructions to kit parts and how generative AI can convert natural-language commands into Python code for robot programming. The company will also showcase the R-50iA Compact DC Controller, which enables collaborative robots to be mounted on autonomous mobile robots.

Additionally, FANUC America has partnered with Palladyne AI to lower the barriers to robot deployment. This collaboration focuses on using Palladyne IQ software to simplify the programming and setup processes that often hinder automation in warehouses and factories. The partnership aims to improve motion planning, human-assisted learning, and the use of simulation and teleoperation to make industrial robots more adaptable to changing production needs.
