Expanding on this trend, Hitachi announced a strategic push into Physical AI during the Hitachi Social Innovation Forum 2026, aiming for 500 billion yen in sales from its HMAX AI solution group by the end of fiscal year 2026. President Toshiaki Tokunaga defined the shift as a transition from simple automation to ‘autonomy,’ where systems make independent decisions. Hitachi is also expanding HMAX offerings to include ‘HMAX Cyber,’ a security solution using advanced models to identify vulnerabilities in critical social infrastructure. This movement aligns with a broader industry shift toward ‘autonomous AI agents’ designed to execute end-to-end processes with minimal human intervention.
