BOAD approves 157.5 billion FCFA for UEMOA regional projects

The West African Development Bank (BOAD) has approved 157.5 billion FCFA in new operations to support strategic sectors across the UEMOA region. This latest round of financing brings the bank's cumulative funding since its inception in 1973 to 10,991.6 billion FCFA.

In Togo, the bank is allocating 82 billion FCFA toward two major projects: 45 billion FCFA for the third phase of the Agricultural Mechanization and Irrigation Support Program (ProMAI), aimed at increasing annual rice production by at least 100,000 tonnes, and 37 billion FCFA to expand petroleum storage capacities at the Lomé Petroleum Complex (COMPEL SA).

Other regional allocations include 30 billion FCFA for Guinea-Bissau to fund road construction and connectivity on the Safim–Jugudul axis, and 10 billion FCFA for Burkina Faso to support the establishment of a cement production plant by Afric Cements in the Kossodo industrial zone. Additionally, 17.5 billion FCFA has been designated for energy asset acquisitions in Benin.
