Overview

The government of Burkina Faso, led by President Ibrahim Traoré, has implemented several administrative and infrastructural initiatives through recent Council of Ministers meetings.

In early September, the government authorized 104 billion FCFA to improve the national electrification rate, aiming to expand the grid and reduce energy disparities between rural and urban areas. Concurrently, new methodological guides for public administration job descriptions were adopted to standardize roles across local authorities and state-owned enterprises.

By late September, the administration expanded its focus to include the creation of ‘Faso Sanya’, a public establishment dedicated to the maintenance and renovation of state infrastructure. The government also officially recognized 315 martyrs and 10 national invalids, granting them social and medical benefits, such as free healthcare and transport. Through ‘Faso Sanya’, the state has formalized its approach to the cleaning, plumbing, electrical, and renovation needs of public buildings.
