Hatay farmer rescued from tractor puller after near‑fatal accident in Antakya

On 15 June 2026, a farmer in the Melekli neighbourhood of Antakya district, Hatay province, Turkey, was caught in the puller of his tractor while attempting to repair a malfunction. The moving puller trapped the farmer, threatening severe injury.

Barış Ünal, a combine‑harvester operator from Nevşehir who was in the area for the harvest, saw the incident, stopped the tractor and managed to free the farmer despite the powerful machinery. He immediately called the emergency number 112. Ambulance crews arrived, provided first‑aid and transported the injured farmer to hospital, where broken ribs were diagnosed.

The rescue was captured on camera and reported by several local news outlets. The operator emphasized that without his rapid intervention the farmer could have been killed or severely mangled by the tractor’s puller.
