Farmers’ Almanac predicts varied winter and Thanksgiving weather

The Farmers’ Almanac has released long-range weather outlooks for the 2026-2027 winter season and the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. For the winter season, the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions are expected to face a “tricky” and unpredictable pattern characterized by coastal storms, rain, sleet, and mixed precipitation. Inland areas may experience heavy, wet snow during January and February, while the southern storm track could bring heavy precipitation from the Southwest through the Gulf Coast and Southeast.

Regarding Thanksgiving, the Almanac predicts snow and chilly weather for the Upper Midwest, while the Lower Great Lakes region may see a mix of rain and snow. Much of the East and the Atlantic Corridor are forecasted to experience rain and mild temperatures. Conversely, the Southeast and Florida are expected to remain warm, and the High Plains and Desert Southwest are likely to see sunny conditions.
