Faro Santander opens new cultural center in Edificio Pereda

Faro Santander, a new cultural project located in the historic Edificio Pereda, has completed its first month of operation. Driven by Banco Santander, the museum aims to merge traditional art with modern technology, including virtual reality and 360-degree immersive experiences.

The inaugural exhibition, ‘Obras Maestras de la Colección Banco Santander’, features works spanning five centuries from artists such as Titian, El Greco, Rubens, Velázquez, Goya, Picasso, and Miró. Other upcoming programming includes ‘México Moderno en la Colección Gelman Santander’ and a focus on Surrealism featuring Leonora Carrington.

Designed by architect David Chipperfield, the space is intended to function as a living center for the exchange of ideas, offering educational spaces for youth and diverse programming for various audiences. Director Daniel Vega Pérez de Arlucea stated the goal is to create a space that citizens visit and experience actively rather than just a traditional exhibition site.
