Farroupilha expands healthcare infrastructure and medical equipment

Healthcare infrastructure is expanding in Farroupilha, Brazil, through the construction of a new Central Health Unit (UBS) and equipment upgrades at Hospital Beneficente São Carlos.

The new Central Health Unit, classified as a Porte 5 Basic Health Unit, has reached 76% completion. The facility will span over 2,200 square meters across three floors, including a parking area for ambulances in the basement. The upper floors will house medical and dental offices, vaccine rooms, and maternity care. The structure will utilize solar energy for sustainability. This type of high-capacity unit is rare in Rio Grande do Sul, with only Farroupilha and Porto Alegre hosting such structures.

Simultaneously, Hospital Beneficente São Carlos has received R$ 1.25 million in state government funds to acquire new medical equipment for its adult ICU, surgical center, obstetric center, and emergency unit. This includes electric beds, cardioverters, anesthesia machines, and LED surgical lighting. The hospital is also set to receive R$ 4.018 million for a hemodynamics system to perform minimally invasive cardiovascular and neurological procedures, such as catheterization, locally. Additionally, a R$ 6 million project is underway to expand and renovate the surgical center, endoscopy area, and sterilization unit.
