Farsala secures 500,000 euros for flood damage infrastructure repairs
The Municipality of Farsala has secured 500,000 euros through the Special Program for Addressing and Recovering from Natural Disasters 2026-2030 to repair infrastructure damaged by extreme weather. The funding, provided by the National Development Program, will cover roadwork and hydraulic network improvements within the urban area of Farsala to mitigate the impact of the severe September 2023 floods.
The project includes the restoration of 700 meters of asphalt, the construction of 300 meters of new stormwater pipes, and the rebuilding of drainage manholes, sidewalks, and curbs. The works are scheduled to begin on January 1, 2027, with an expected completion date of March 30, 2028.
In addition to these large-scale funded projects, the municipality is currently conducting ongoing maintenance and repairs across its road network, including work on Thetis Street. Mayor Makis Eskiloglou stated that the administration is prioritizing interventions based on technical assessments to ensure safer movement for citizens both in the city and surrounding communities.
