Fatah Central Committee initiates national dialogue and enters permanent session

The Fatah Central Committee, chaired by Hussein al-Sheikh, has decided to remain in a state of permanent session to monitor political, field, and organizational developments in the Palestinian territories. The committee discussed the current situation in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, addressing challenges to the Palestinian cause.

In response to President Mahmoud Abbas’s invitation for Egypt to host a comprehensive national dialogue, the committee unanimously decided to initiate this dialogue immediately. A delegation has been formed to begin the process, which aims to protect Palestinian national achievements and unity.

The committee also emphasized the necessity of democratic processes, calling for general elections and the convening of the Palestinian National Council. They stressed the importance of creating conditions for elections across all Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem and Gaza, and urged the removal of obstacles preventing the Central Elections Commission from performing its duties.
