Fatal car accident in Albania kills newlyweds and teenager

A fatal car accident in Manza, Albania, near Durazzo, has claimed the lives of three people, including an Italian woman and her new husband. The victims were identified as 26-year-old Sara Brugnatelli, originally from Erbusco, Italy, and her 25-year-old husband, Kleo Vrioni. The couple had celebrated their wedding just three days prior.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, August 19, 2026, as the group was returning from a celebration in Gjiri i Lalzit. The vehicle, a black BMW driven by Vrioni, reportedly veered off the road and collided violently with a concrete structure and a roadside channel.

In addition to the newlyweds, a 15-year-old Albanian boy, Alvi Muhaxhiri, also died in the crash. Two other passengers, Rejsi Vrioni, 25, and Klevis Dervishi, 16, were hospitalized in critical condition. Local authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
