Fatal highway crashes reported in New South Wales

Two separate vehicle collisions occurred on New South Wales highways on Wednesday, September 2, resulting in one fatality and significant traffic disruptions.

In Nimmitabel, south of Cooma, a car and a truck collided on the Snowy Mountains Highway. The crash ignited a large fire, resulting in the death of the car driver at the scene. The truck driver was treated for minor injuries and taken to the hospital for testing. Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances for the coroner.

In Gundagai, a B-double truck and a car collided at the intersection of the Hume Highway and Annie Pyers Drive. Both vehicles left the roadway, with the car landing down an embankment. Emergency services, including Fire and Rescue NSW and the NSW Rural Fire Service, attended the scene. All occupants escaped the Gundagai collision without injury, and the northbound lane has since reopened.
