Overview

A series of vehicle accidents on New South Wales highways has resulted in fatalities, serious injuries, and significant travel disruptions.

In early September, a collision between a car and a truck on the Snowy Mountains Highway near Nimmitabel caused a large fire and the death of the car driver. A separate collision involving a B-double truck and a car in Gundagai resulted in no injuries but caused traffic disruptions.

Later in the month, further accidents led to major road closures. A multi-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on the Princes Highway, north of Narooma, left a motorcyclist with serious injuries and required helicopter assistance. Additionally, a collision on Chifley Road east of Lithgow caused a truck to overturn, necessitating heavy towing operations and closing the road in both directions.
