Romania and Moldova dog welfare: adoptions, stray captures, shelter fire
In Romania, animal shelters reported a series of canine-related events. The Asociația pentru Supravegherea și Protecția Animalelor (ASPA) facilitated the adoption of 11 dogs over a weekend, including the rescued dogs Bruno, Bella and Mura. Meanwhile, the Suceava municipal shelter captured 45 stray dogs in June and received 27 abandoned dogs, while 21 were adopted during the same period.
In Chișinău, Moldova, a fire broke out at an animal shelter, resulting in the deaths of several dogs. Authorities and shelter owners suspect the blaze may have been intentional, heightening concerns about animal safety in the region.
