Fatal river drownings reported in Mexico and Ecuador

Two separate drowning incidents involving young men have been reported in Mexico and Ecuador.

In Ixtapa, Mexico, 22-year-old Isabelo de Jesús was found dead in the Mascota River on Friday morning. He had been missing since Thursday afternoon after entering the water to escape the heat while visiting the river with his girlfriend. Civil Protection and Firefighter rescue teams located his body caught among branches several meters downstream from where he was last seen.

In Ecuador, 26-year-old Nission Solórzano died while fishing in the Blanco River, located between Quinindé and Puerto Quito. The incident occurred on Thursday, August 13. Despite attempts by a companion to assist him, Solórzano could not be saved. Firefighting units from Quinindé, La Concordia, and Puerto Quito recovered his body approximately one kilometer from the site on Friday afternoon.
