Fatal traffic accidents reported in Niigata and Tainan

Multiple fatal traffic accidents have been reported in Japan and Taiwan.

In Niigata Prefecture, Japan, a man was found dead near a parked light vehicle inside the Tsutsuishi Tunnel on the Hokuriku Expressway in Itoigawa City. Police are investigating whether the man was thrown from a vehicle that struck the tunnel wall or if he was struck by a subsequent vehicle.

In Tainan, Taiwan, a 46-year-old driver was killed in a head-on collision in the Xuejia District. A 62-year-old truck driver allegedly drifted into the opposite lane due to fatigue and drug use. Following a rapid test, the truck driver tested positive for amphetamines. The case has been referred to the Tainan District Prosecutors Office on charges including public danger and negligent homicide.
