Fatal Truck‑Car Collision in Jablunkov Region, Czech Republic

A severe traffic accident occurred on Saturday around 4:30 p.m. in the Jablunkov area of the Czech Republic. A driver of an Opel vehicle entered the oncoming lane and collided head‑on with a passing freight truck. The impact caused the truck to catch fire and the car to be badly damaged.

Rescue crews used hydraulic equipment to extricate the occupants. The younger woman trapped in the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The older female passenger suffered multiple critical injuries to the head, chest, abdomen and leg and remains in intensive care. Police reported negative results for alcohol and drug tests on the car driver. The road, a major route to Slovakia, was closed for about five hours while investigators examined the crash.
