Fatal violence reported in Dominican Republic and Ecuador

Two separate violent incidents resulted in fatalities in the Dominican Republic and Ecuador.

In Villa Altagracia, Dominican Republic, 43-year-old Carolina Zapata died following a knife attack during a dispute at a social venue in San José del Puerto. According to her son, the assailant used a blade to attack her neck despite attempts by bystanders to intervene. The suspect is currently in custody and awaiting legal proceedings.

In Guayaquil, Ecuador, a man was killed in a shooting near commercial premises on Isla Trinitaria. Witnesses reported hearing approximately 16 gunshots around 07:50 on Tuesday. The victim, described as a local tricycle driver, was found near the Trinipuerto entrance. National Police have arrived at the scene to conduct investigations and recover the body.
