Jacques Delfosse, an 88‑year‑old former priest, is the subject of a criminal investigation by the Lille public prosecutor after being convicted in 2007 for rapes of two minors at camps in Ardèche. Authorities say he may have abused dozens of children over four decades, moving between Ardèche, Jura, Nord and Isère.

A group of 25 new alleged victims, led by 67‑year‑old retired Damien Maes, recently demonstrated at the Lille prosecutor’s office, claiming sexual assaults in 1966 at a camp’s showers in Jura and at a school in Ascq (Nord). They allege Delfosse sedated children with medication, isolated them, and removed their clothing. Journalist Bruno Renoul of La Voix du Nord first reported the case. The former camp house in Gourgouras, where some abuse allegedly occurred, has been converted into a bed‑and‑breakfast.

The victims assert that the Catholic Church knew of Delfosse’s conduct and repeatedly reassigned him rather than reporting the crimes, prompting calls for further investigation and for other survivors to come forward.
