Fatih Akin film Geister premieres in cinemas

Director Fatih Akin’s new film, Geister, has released in cinemas. The story follows Faris (Eren M. Güvercin) and Farasha (Mariam Dawoud), two twenty-year-olds who meet at a graduation party in the Hamburg TV Tower and experience immediate love.

The romance is tragically interrupted when a car accident occurs that same night, resulting in Farasha’s death. Faris is left to deal with intense grief and guilt. However, the film takes a supernatural turn as Farasha is able to visit Faris in his dreams for forty nights.

Set in a liminal space described as a limbo, the film explores the connection between the living and the dead. The protagonists must navigate their deepening feelings while facing the reality of their limited time together and the necessity of an eventual final farewell.
