Fatih currency exchange shooting leaves 2 dead and 2 wounded

A fatal shooting occurred at a currency exchange office in the Sofçuhan Business Center within Istanbul’s Fatih district. The incident resulted in the deaths of Adnan Aksoy (30) and his brother Kadir Aksoy (27). Two other individuals, identified as E. A. (19) and B. S. (33), were wounded and hospitalized.

Investigations suggest the violence stemmed from a dispute between the business owner, Kemal E., and a group of customers. While initial reports cited a debt dispute or issues during currency exchange, authorities are also investigating a claim that the group attempted to exchange 1.9 million dollars in counterfeit currency.

Police have detained approximately 10 to 12 suspects in connection with the incident. Investigators found that the business owner had attempted to delete security camera footage, though some data was recovered from the hard drive. Authorities are currently examining the source of the suspected counterfeit money and the motives behind the confrontation.
